The Kozuki Family is a formerly powerful family that once ruled over Wano Country until their downfall twenty years ago. The crest of the Kozuki Family depicts a bird, likely a crane or a heron, with a glowing orb in its chest and spread wings. Around the bird figure, there is a circle with four sprout-like symbols coming from it at each ordinal direction. Retainers of the Kozuki Family have this crest tattooed in their bodies in order to allow recognition.
As the family of Wano's shogun, the Kurozumi Family has numerous allies and retainers. A few generations ago, the Kurozumi Family was one of the six most prominent families in Wano, with their leaders serving the Kozuki Family by ruling as daimyo over an unknown region. When the current shogun had not fathered an heir, the five daimyo became the top candidates for the position. The head of the Kurozumi Family proceeded to work toward gaining the shogunate by poisoning the other daimyo.
