I want to know why the prescription numbers on prescription drugs important. Like mine is Rx If you have refills with the prescription they are attached to that prescription number so you can more easily refill the medication. Many pharmacies allow prescriptions to be filled by going on line and entering the number. If a prescription is transferred between pharmacies the number is used to identify it and transfer. If a prescription needs to be verified or authenticated the number is used.
